The Silly Shef

Helpful Sites and Tools

The interweb is a massively huge place (yes I know that's redundant, and that you already knew that).  It contains some very useful tools and information for people cooking for themselves.  I'm going to list some sites that I found useful.  I encourage you to have a look.

Food Gawker  is a massive database of recipes (and food porn) posted by everyone.  It's a wonderful resource for cooking ideas.

Recipe Quantity Calculator This can help you scale down huge recipes or scale up small ones.  It's easy to use and converts ingredients into simple kitchen measurements.

Fit Day This is a great site for anyone looking to watch their weight during the year.  It helps monitor your nutrient intake, weight and activity.  It gives you a comprehensive look at your health over time.

Nutrition Data This database contains extremely detailed nutrition information on almost any kind of food you can think of.  It provides a list of all nutrients the food contains.  The site itself also has a BMI calculator, dieting tips, unit converter and much more.

My Fridge Food This site allows you to check off whatever happens to be in your fridge and from thoes ingredients it produces a list of user submitted recipes that you have the ingredients to make.  It'll help you use up anything you haven't gotten around to using so that it won't go to waste.
